Weight loss injections are more effective than pills. Once-weekly tirzepatide injections (Mounjaro, Tirzee, Zeptide) produce about 20% average body weight loss and semaglutide injections about 15%, while the newest daily GLP-1 pills produce about 11–14%. Injections need only one dose a week with no food rules, and in Pakistan they are widely available, while the newest obesity pills are not. For most people, injections offer faster, greater and easier weight loss.

How Weight Loss Injections Work

Weight loss injections copy natural gut hormones that control appetite. Semaglutide acts on the GLP-1 receptor, and tirzepatide acts on both GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which is why tirzepatide gives the greatest weight loss of any approved medicine. These hormones reduce hunger, slow stomach emptying, cut food cravings and improve blood sugar control. The medicine is injected under the skin once a week with a fine-needle pre-filled pen or syringe. Learn more about weight loss injections in Islamabad.

How Weight Loss Pills Work

Newer weight loss pills use the same GLP-1 pathway in tablet form:

  • Oral semaglutide (Wegovy pill 25 mg, Rybelsus): the same peptide as Ozempic, protected by an absorption enhancer (SNAC). Only a small fraction is absorbed, so a daily dose is needed and it must be taken on an empty stomach.
  • Orforglipron (Foundayo): a small-molecule GLP-1 drug by Eli Lilly, taken daily without food restrictions, with lower average weight loss than injections.

Older pills such as orlistat (blocks part of dietary fat absorption) and metformin (a diabetes medicine) give only small weight loss.

Why Weight Loss Injections Are the Better Choice

1. Injections Give More Weight Loss

Tirzepatide injections lead to about 20% average weight loss, the highest of any approved weight loss medicine. Semaglutide injections give about 15%. Current GLP-1 pills give about 11–14%. For a 100 kg person, that difference can mean 6–9 kg more weight lost.

2. One Dose a Week, Not Seven

An injection takes under a minute, once a week. Pills must be taken every single day, and missing doses reduces results. Weekly dosing is easier to remember and easier to stick with long term.

3. No Empty-Stomach Rules

Oral semaglutide must be taken first thing in the morning with only a small sip of water, followed by a 30-minute wait before eating, drinking tea or taking other medicines. Injections can be taken at any time, with or without food, which fits easily around family meals, work and travel.

4. Reliable Absorption

Injections deliver the full dose directly under the skin. Oral semaglutide relies on stomach absorption, which drops sharply if taken with food or too much water, making results less predictable.

5. Flexible If You Miss a Dose

If you miss a weekly injection, you can usually take it within 4 days (tirzepatide) or 5 days (semaglutide). Missed daily pills simply mean lost treatment days.

6. Widely Available in Pakistan

Mounjaro and locally made Tirzee, Zeptide and semaglutide brands are available in Islamabad today. The newest obesity pills, Wegovy pill and Foundayo, are approved in the US but not widely available in Pakistan yet.

7. Lower Monthly Cost

Local tirzepatide and semaglutide injections often cost less per month than oral semaglutide, because pills need much more drug to work.

8. The Injection Is Easy and Nearly Painless

Modern pens use a very short, fine needle placed just under the skin of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. Most patients describe it as a small pinch, and at Dermalase your first injection is given in clinic with full home-injection training.

Who Should Choose Weight Loss Injections?

Weight loss injections are the best choice if you:

  • Want the greatest possible weight loss
  • Have a higher BMI or conditions such as diabetes, PCOS, fatty liver or high blood pressure
  • Prefer a simple once-a-week routine
  • Find daily empty-stomach rules difficult
  • Want proven, locally available options in Pakistan

When Might a Pill Be Considered?

A pill may be considered only if you have a genuine needle phobia, need modest weight loss, or have type 2 diabetes where your doctor prefers oral semaglutide (Rybelsus). At diabetes doses, Rybelsus gives only modest weight loss.

Avoid Herbal and Online Slimming Pills

Many slimming pills sold online or on social media have no proven effect, and regulators worldwide have found hidden drugs such as sibutramine, a medicine withdrawn for heart risks, in “natural” weight loss products. Never take weight loss pills or injections without a prescription and a medical assessment.
